Chapter 9 - the final showdown

Adrian stood tall beside the viewing table, his posture unbothered, his dark eyes completely devoid of fear. He slowly folded his broad arms over his black coat.
"You're thirty seconds too late, Rossi," Adrian said, his deep voice echoing in the concrete vault like a thunderclap.
"What are you talking about?" Rossi growled, adjusting his grip on the weapon.
"The contents of this flash drive were uploaded to the Federal District Attorney's server five minutes ago," Adrian explained coldly. "And my men secured your warehouse in New Haven ten minutes ago."
Rossi’s face turned an ashen gray. "You bluffing bastard—"
Before Rossi could pull the trigger, Marcus and Adrian's enforcers moved with lightning speed!
Marcus tackled the lead mercenary into the steel deposit boxes, while Adrian charged forward like an unstoppable dark storm! He closed the ten-foot gap in a single stride, grabbing the barrel of Rossi's submachine gun with his bare, tattooed hand, twisting the weapon out of the mobster's grip, and delivering a single, crushing right hook to Rossi's jaw!
Rossi crashed onto the cold floorboards, spitting blood, his weapon clattering uselessly across the stone.
The remaining mercenaries were disarmed and pinned to the floor by Adrian's men within twenty seconds flat.
Adrian stood over Rossi, his heavy boot pinned firmly against the mobster's chest, looking down at him with dark, lethal judgment.
"Fifteen years ago, my brother trusted you," Adrian growled, his voice a dangerous whisper. "And you helped Dominic put him in the ground."
"Adrian... please!" Rossi whimpered, his eyes wide with absolute, terrifying realization. "I was just following orders! Dominic paid me!"
"My family doesn't forgive traitors," Adrian said flatly.

He motioned to Marcus, who stepped forward with iron handcuffs. "Hand him over to the federal authorities waiting outside. Let him spend the rest of his life in a maximum-security cage."
Adrian picked up the heavy metal box containing James's legacy, adjusted his wool coat, and walked out into the bright morning sun.
