Chapter 10 - The commingling strategy

The central secret was confirmed by banking records, company emails, account statements, and Wesley’s own messages.

He had spent nearly eighteen months creating a commingling-and-access strategy around my money.

Not a forged deed.

Not fake ownership certificates.

Not a secret prenup amendment.

Something more ordinary.

First:

Encourage me to move legitimate Renaldi distributions into our joint brokerage.

He framed it as:

Transparency.

Marriage.

Shared future.

Second:

Use the broad household treasury authorization to move additional amounts from my personal account into the joint account under labels such as:

Tax reserve.

Liquidity rebalance.

Investment consolidation.

Third:

Once funds entered joint title, use his legitimate joint-holder authority to invest or transfer them.

Fourth:

Send portions into Kane Urban Development as:

Shareholder loans.

Capital contributions.

Short-term bridge funding.

Fifth:

Repay some amounts temporarily so the account never looked completely drained.

Sixth:

When I began asking questions, insist that everything in the marriage was “ours” and that challenging transfers meant I did not trust him.

Seventh:

Rely on the fact that tracing commingled property later can become expensive and contested.

He was not trying to steal my sixteen-percent Renaldi stake.

He knew the shareholder agreement blocked him.

He was trying to capture the cash produced by it before I could keep that cash separate.

Gross transfers from my personal accounts into joint accounts during the strategy period:

$1.46 million.

Amounts clearly approved by me:

Approximately $715,000.

Amounts disputed as beyond authorization or misrepresented:

Approximately $745,000.

From the joint account, Kane Urban received:

$910,000 total.

Some came from unquestionably marital funds.

Some from disputed transfers originating with me.

The accounting would take months.

Then motive.

Wesley’s company needed sponsor capital.

His personal guarantees terrified him.

He believed losing Kane Urban would make him:

Dependent.

Embarrassed.

Smaller beside my family.

So he converted marriage into a financing mechanism.

When I stopped the flow, control turned physical.

The table kick was not random.

It was the first time the financial coercion became visible enough that even I could no longer call it a marriage problem.
