Chapter 16 - Wesley’s CFO testifies

Kane Urban CFO Daniel Cho cooperated in civil discovery and later criminal investigation.

He said:

“I repeatedly asked Wesley whether Cambria approved capital calls.”

“What did he say?”

“That household money was under his control.”

“Did you know money came from her personal account?”

“Not initially.”

Then email:

Cho:

For audit, should this be booked as Wesley shareholder loan or joint Kane household investment?

Wesley:

Book under me for now. Cambria doesn’t want paperwork.

I wanted paperwork.

Then another:

Cho:

We should document interest if this is loan.

Wesley:

No. Treat as capital.

Capital in whose name?

Wesley’s.

That was key.

Money originating partly from me was being booked as his personal capital contribution to his company.

Why?

Because Kane Urban’s ownership documents listed him.

If company recovered, equity upside would belong primarily to him.
