Chapter 16 - Redwood withdraws the job
Redwood Risk Partners learned about Aloysius’s arrest.
Not from me.
The matter became public after charging.
They placed his start on hold.
Then withdrew the offer under contractual conduct provisions.
Signing payment had not yet been fully vested.
He had to return the portion already advanced.
He lost:
The job.
The bonus opportunity.
The move.
Ironically, the thing he committed crimes to secure disappeared because of the crimes.
His existing employer suspended him.
Later terminated him after internal review.
Not because employers may punish any private scandal however they like without contracts.
Their stated grounds included:
Conduct incompatible with senior risk-leadership responsibilities.
Failure to disclose a material pending employment departure during certain internal processes.
The second issue surprised me.
Aloysius had apparently been negotiating a retention package while already signed elsewhere.
