Chapter 7 - The lawyer did not help him do this

Aloysius’s family lawyer was Rebecca Sloan.

She contacted my attorney after learning her advice might be relevant.

She had done nothing improper.

In fact, her emails made Aloysius look worse.

Six weeks before delivery:

Aloysius:

If Jessamy becomes unstable after birth, what happens with the children?

Rebecca:

If there is an actual safety issue, seek medical care. Custody decisions require evidence and focus on the children’s best interests. Do not assume ordinary postpartum recovery equals incapacity.

Two weeks later:

If a hospital documents confusion, can I request temporary primary custody?

Rebecca:

A single episode does not automatically determine custody. If you are anticipating separation, we can discuss lawful temporary arrangements. Do not attempt to create evidence.

That sentence would become important.

Aloysius replied:

Understood.

He had been warned in plain English.

Do not create evidence.
