Chapter 22 - Clarissa tries grandparent visitation

Clarissa filed for grandparent visitation six months after Maeve’s birth.

She had met Maeve only once? Actually no, she had not. Let's set she had never met Maeve directly because no contact. That weakens standing. She argued substantial pre-birth involvement? Many states restrict grandparent rights. Good.

Her petition claimed:

She had prepared extensively for Maeve.

Had a completed nursery.

Had historically been central to Dorian’s family.

Wanted limited supervised contact.

My lawyer responded:

She had no established relationship with Maeve.

She had assaulted me while pregnant.

She participated in the forged parenting scheme.

Her adult son was alive and pursuing his own parenting rights.

The court dismissed the petition without granting visitation under the jurisdiction’s narrow standing requirements.

No parental-right bypass.

Clarissa could not convert:

I built a nursery

into:

I am entitled to the child.

Dorian did not support her petition.

That was new.

She called him ungrateful.

He blocked her number for three months.
