Chapter 26 - Family dinner without rules

The next Thanksgiving was at our house.
Not Agatha’s.
She was not invited to full dinner.
Later dessert only.
That was what Benson and I were comfortable with.
At dinner, Benson started crying because his cousin knocked over his toy airplane.
No one took his plate.
No one said:
Stop.
No one laughed.
Stellan helped fix the wing.
Benson ate mashed potatoes while crying.
Then forgot he was crying.
That was normal childhood.
Later Agatha arrived for pie.
She sat at far end.
Asked Benson:
“May I sit here?”
He nodded.
May you like

Huge difference.
