Chapter 12 - Richard Gives Me a Lease

Richard did not gift me the house.
Good.
That would have turned one family power imbalance into another.
Instead Bennett Residential Holdings issued me a twelve-month residential lease.
Rent:
Nominal $500 monthly plus utilities.
Why so low?
Because Richard acknowledged years of confusion and wanted children stable through separation.
My attorney insisted on written agreement.
No:
family promise.
Lease.
Term.
Notice.
Maintenance responsibility.
No surprise eviction.
No equity claim.
Clear.
I signed after Priya reviewed.
Greg objected.
“That’s my family’s property.”
Richard answered:
“You’re not living there.”
“I’m your son.”
“And?”
That word.
Greg had rarely heard it from him.
Richard later told me:
“I created the LLC because I believed property stayed safer when rules were written.”
“Then why did your son think family rules were optional?”
He had no answer.
May you like
Neither did I.
