Chapter 10 - Vanessa Says It Was All Me
Vanessa hired excellent counsel.
Her first formal position was simple.
Richard knew.
The transfers were legitimate.
The video was edited to make private financial planning look criminal.
Claire hated her.
The slap proved Richard was unstable.
The wedding spectacle showed I was willing to humiliate her publicly rather than discuss business privately.
Some of that was uncomfortable because some of it was true.
I had humiliated her publicly.
I had hit her.
That did not make the payments authorized.
Separate questions.
My attorney repeated that to me constantly.
“Stop trying to win the whole moral story.”
“What does that mean?”
“It means one person can commit financial crimes and another can commit assault in response. Juries understand more than one thing at a time.”
