Chapter 13 - Noah Stops Liking Weddings

Noah did not understand fraud.
He understood:
Vanessa hit Mommy.
Grandpa hit Vanessa.
Flowers broke.
Everyone screamed.
For weeks, every picture of a wedding made him uncomfortable.
Claire noticed first.
A television commercial showed a bride.
Noah left the room.
His therapist advised:
Do not force reenactment.
Do not repeatedly ask what he remembers.
Do not make him the family hero.
That last one mattered.
Guests kept saying:
“That little boy saved everyone.”
No.
He carried a USB because his mother told him to find Grandpa.
Brave.
Important.
Still a three-year-old.
We stopped retelling the event around him.
Claire said:
“You helped Mommy by finding Grandpa.”
Then:
“Now grown-ups handle the rest.”
