Chapter 24 - The White Roses

The hotel asked what we wanted done with the flowers.
Thousands of dollars in white roses.
I almost said burn them.
Ridiculous.
Instead, Claire arranged for usable flowers to be distributed among several local hospitals and senior residences through a charity partner.
No press release.
No:
Flowers from billionaire’s ruined wedding brighten sick children’s day.
I prohibited that nonsense.
They were flowers.
They went somewhere people could enjoy them.
Weeks later, Samuel brought one dried white rose into my office.
I stared.
“What is that?”
“Hotel coordinator found it in my tuxedo bag.”
“Throw it away.”
“You throw it away.”
I did.
He smiled.
“You’re healing.”
May you like
“Get out.”
Friendship.
