Chapter 25 - I leave the mansion more often

Finley did not want to live at my estate full-time.
Evelyn did not either.
So I stopped expecting reconciliation to happen inside my world.
I went to theirs.
Apartment.
School pickup.
Baseball field.
Dentist waiting room.
Ordinary places where being feared throughout the city meant nothing.
One afternoon Finley asked:
“Can I call you Dad?”
“Yes.”
“Do I have to?”
“No.”
He thought.
“Merrick is weird.”
“I agree.”
“Dad then.”
That was it.
No music.
May you like
No witnesses.
He went back to his fries.
