Chapter 15 - Officer Grant’s Camera

The tactical camera became symbolic in everyone’s retelling.

People said:

“The camera uncovered the whole plot.”

It did not.

It showed enough to justify more questions.

That distinction matters.

The live view revealed:

My suitcase.

My passport.

A cot.

A second phone.

The room’s unusual lock.

Investigators then obtained authority to search properly.

Only afterward did they discover the forged-looking forms, digital drafts, and travel plan.

Technology did not solve the case.

Procedure did.

Observe.

Preserve.

Seek lawful access.

Document.

Compare.

The little camera did one important thing.

It allowed police to see into a room without blindly forcing entry during an armed domestic call.

That protected officers.

Protected us.

And preserved evidence.

Dad still called it:

“that little camera that saved Emily.”

Grant always corrected him.

May you like

“Your daughter saved herself when she made the call.”

I liked Grant after that.
