Chapter 23 - The Easter Basket

The basket remained at the house until property division.
I forgot it existed.

Pastel wicker.
Yellow ribbon.
Ridiculous.
I almost told them to throw it away.
Instead, I took it.
Why?
No profound reason.
It belonged to me.
The following Easter, I filled it with candy and brought it to Dad’s house.
He stared.
“What are you doing?”
“Easter.”
“That basket?”
“It’s a basket.”
He looked uncertain.
I handed him a chocolate egg.
He ate it.
