Chapter 16 - Margaret’s Plan
Margaret never described herself as helping a kidnapping.
Even later.
In her version:
Ryan panicked.
Daniel became unreasonable.
A temporary confinement became necessary.
She believed Daniel would be released after he agreed not to report the company immediately.
Then Ryan staged the vehicle.
Margaret objected.
Not enough to stop him.
She told herself it was simply:
“buying another day.”
Then false death paperwork appeared.
Another line crossed.
She helped contact the funeral home.
Why?
Because once people believed Daniel was dead, scrutiny of his disappearance would temporarily decrease.
Ryan could move Martin.
Destroy remaining records.
Repair the company’s files.
Then, somehow, according to Margaret’s impossible logic, they would:
“figure out Daniel.”

People inside escalating crimes often speak as if future time will repair moral collapse.
It rarely does.
