Chapter 25 - Emma’s Phone

For almost a year, Emma refused to hear Daniel’s old ringtone.
If someone’s phone made a similar bell sound, she covered her ears.
We changed Daniel’s ringtone.
Then hers.
Eventually the old work phone stopped charging.
Daniel wanted to throw it away.
Emma refused.
“Important.”
Why?
“It found you.”
Technically, it helped reveal the coffin.
Daniel did not correct her.
We placed it in a drawer.
Not displayed.
Not worshipped.
Just kept.
At seven, Emma found it again.
“Doesn’t work.”
“No.”
“Can fix?”
“Probably not worth it.”
She thought.
“Okay.”
