Chapter 15 - Ryan comes home to me, but not the mansion
Child welfare approved Ryan leaving Adam’s house after several weeks.
Could he move to the Bennett mansion?
Technically possible if Lily lived elsewhere.
But it would reinforce:
Ryan attacked Lily and got her home.
I refused.
I rented a townhouse near both children’s schools.
Not secret.
Claire knew.
Adam knew.
Court knew.
Ryan moved there with me part of the week.
Adam remained major support.
I split my nights according to parenting obligations.
Messy.
Expensive.
Necessary.
Ryan entered the townhouse.
Looked around.
“This isn’t home.”
“It’s my home with you for now.”
“You promised mansion.”
“I promised too much without talking to everyone.”
“So Lily wins.”
“No.”
“She gets the big house.”
“She isn’t living there right now either.”
That surprised him.
“Why?”
“Because you hurt her there.”
He looked down.
Then:
“Did I make everyone leave?”
“You caused harm. I caused the situation that made the family unstable. Both are true.”
