Chapter 18 - The custody fight that almost started

Megan’s brother Adam considered petitioning for third-party custody of Ryan.
Not because he wanted to steal him.
Because he doubted me.
He told his lawyer:
“Daniel has been Ryan’s father in fragments. I don’t know if he can do it every day.”
As legal father, I had priority absent unfitness, but the assault, secrecy, and my own battery incident created questions.
Adam did not file immediately.
We mediated.
Ryan wanted:
Live with me.
See Adam often.
Stay at same school.
Not be forced into mansion.
That was workable.
We signed a structured family agreement approved where necessary:
Ryan primarily with me.
One weekend monthly and flexible contact with Adam.
Adam authorized for emergency pickup.
Therapy continued.
No attempt to erase Megan’s family.
Then Adam said:
“If you hide him again, I will take you back to court.”
“I won’t.”
May you like
“You’ve said that before about other things.”
Fair.
