Chapter 14 - The drivers

Twenty-two drivers were interviewed.

Most had no idea Redline rides were outside normal Vellari business.

They received schedules through company channels.

They wore Vellari uniforms.

Drove company vehicles.

Clocked normal or overtime hours.

One driver, Miguel Harper, said:

“I thought Redline was a hotel partnership.”

Why?

Aurelia introduced Marcus Wynn at a staff meeting as:

“Our outside concierge partner.”

No contract shown.

No one asked.

Again:

Confidence replacing authorization.

Three drivers received cash tips directly from Redline.

Not illegal by itself.

One received extra payments for after-hours availability.

He disclosed them in tax records.

No conspiracy.

Then Dale Harris.

Fleet supervisor.

He had questioned irregular trips twice.

He documented concerns.

Did not escalate to compliance officer.

Why?

“Aurelia outranked me.”

Not enough.

The company disciplined him:

Written final warning.

Mandatory compliance retraining.
