Chapter 19 - The verdict

The jury convicted Aurelia of:
Felony child endangerment involving Clara.
Misdemeanor child endangerment involving Elliot? Could be felony both, but mixed. Let's make felony reckless endangerment for infant, misdemeanor for older child due grading.
Unlawful confinement involving both children.
They acquitted her of:
A more serious aggravated child-abuse count requiring proof of serious bodily injury or extreme cruelty beyond what prosecution established.
Mixed.
No verdict on fleet finances yet.
That case remained separate.
At sentencing hearing for child case, court delayed final sentence until commercial charges were resolved so total structure could be considered.
Aurelia remained on bond under:
No contact with my children.
No estate access without authorization.
Travel restrictions.
She moved into a condominium downtown.
Her sixteen-percent company stake continued generating distributions.
I hated that.
Then my lawyer said:
“Ownership is not moral approval.”

I had said nearly the same thing to others.
Now I had to live it.
