Chapter 18 - Aurelia’s first trial

The child-endangerment case went first.
The prosecution used:
Telematics.
Medical records.
Elliot’s properly recorded forensic interview.
Estate-camera footage.
Aurelia’s statement at scene.
The prior nanny report only after judge allowed limited use regarding knowledge, not to prove character generally.
Defense emphasized:
Thirteen minutes.
Immediate recovery.
No organ injury.
Aurelia stayed nearby.
She never drove away.
Then Dr. Crane testified.
Defense:
“Was Elliot diagnosed with heatstroke?”
“No.”
“Was Clara?”
“No.”
“Any permanent injury?”
“None identified.”
“Then they were fine?”
Dr. Crane answered:
“They recovered. That is not the same statement as saying the exposure was safe.”
Precise.
Then the key.
Aurelia held it.
The vehicle was intentionally locked.
No mechanical malfunction.
