Chapter 19 - Daniel’s Version

Daniel never accepted the word kidnapping.
His attorneys objected too.
Fairly, in the legal sense.
No completed interstate removal occurred.
I never entered the car.
The charges had to fit conduct actually proven.
Daniel said:
“I was trying to save our marriage.”
He believed that.
Maybe.
He said:
“Rachel was exhausted.”
True.
“She wanted distance.”
True in a vague sense.
“She told me she wished she could leave.”
True.
“She did not manage logistics, so I did.”
There was the problem.
A marriage does not convert one person’s vague wish into another person’s authority.
He said:
“I knew once she saw the rental, she’d understand.”
I asked later through attorneys:
“And if I didn’t?”

No answer I trusted.
The bathroom gave us one.
