Chapter 23 - My Sister Julia

Daniel had removed Julia from Noah’s school emergency-contact list.
That made her furious.
Not because of administrative inconvenience.
Because she understood why.
“If something happened, they wouldn’t call me.”
Correct.
Daniel had spent years describing Julia as:
“too involved.”
She was involved.
Sometimes annoyingly.
She once showed up at our house because I did not answer two texts.
I yelled at her.
Now I saw how Daniel used my irritation with her.
“You complain about Julia too.”
True.
That did not mean I wanted her erased.
Manipulation often works through genuine conflict.
Daniel did not invent every weakness in our relationships.
He leveraged them.
Afterward, Julia and I set new boundaries too.
She could help without managing me.
