Chapter 25 - The Suitcase Comes Back

I did not want it.
Noah did.
“Why?”
“My red hoodie.”

Evidence had turned one of his favorite sweatshirts into property he could not access for months.
We opened the suitcase together after lawyers confirmed everything could be returned.
My clothes.
His clothes.
Toothbrush.
Shoes.
The folder was gone into evidence copies and records.
Noah pulled out the hoodie.
Smelled it.
Made a face.
“Stale.”
“Very.”
I expected some dramatic emotional reaction.

“Can you wash this?”
“Yes.”
I washed everything.
Then donated the suitcase.
Not as symbolic purification.
