Chapter 24 - Daniel’s Plea

The case lasted more than a year.

Family court moved separately.

Eventually Daniel accepted a negotiated resolution on the strongest criminal counts.

He acknowledged damaging the bathroom door while I was on an emergency call and refusing access.

He acknowledged document-related misconduct tied to the prepared school materials.

He acknowledged paying Melissa privately for work that concealed changes from me.

His attorneys continued disputing the most extreme interpretation of his intended relocation plan.

The court did not need to settle every possible future act.

Consequences included a custodial component, supervised release, intervention programming, and enforceable no-contact or structured-contact provisions as appropriate during different stages.

No life sentence.

No theatrical punishment.

His relationship with Noah became subject to professionals and court orders.
