Chapter 10 - The Manufactured Wandering
Chloe’s story depended heavily on Mom wandering.
The raw logs showed why.
Derek had created a test routine to verify sensors.
The routine triggered motion events sequentially.
Hall.
Kitchen.
Foyer.
Rear door.
During installation, normal.
Chloe later learned she could trigger it manually.
She did.
At 2:11 a.m.
Then 1:47.
Then 3:03.
The resulting summary report resembled someone moving through the house.
No video accompanied those events because Chloe disabled camera capture.
Then she sent screenshots to me.
“Your mother wandered again.”
I would call the next morning.
“Mom, did you get up last night?”
“I don’t think so.”
That answer frightened me.
She doesn’t remember.
Except she was telling the truth.
Nothing had happened.
