Chapter 21 - The Divorce

I filed before the criminal case ended.

Chloe accused me of abandoning her before:

“the facts were established.”

Some facts were already established.

I had personally seen her swing a metal mop toward my seventy-eight-year-old mother.

Maya had been hit.

That was enough for the marriage.

The divorce itself involved property.

Accounts.

Household assets.

No children.

Thank God.

Chloe argued she had made enormous contributions to managing my life.

She had.

That did not disappear because the marriage ended badly.

Property division followed law, not my anger.

I hated that sometimes.

Then respected it.
