Chapter 12 - My shove has consequences

Tyler’s family reported my shove.
Video showed:
He extended an arm.
I pushed it aside.
He lost balance.
Fell into fountain.
He had:
Bruised hip.
Scraped hand.
No head injury.
Police reviewed.
Prosecutor from another jurisdiction was assigned to avoid appearance problems because I served locally.
Correct.
My lawyer said:
“We can argue you were moving through an obstruction to reach your distressed daughter.”
True.
But force matters.
The prosecutor offered:
Pretrial diversion on a misdemeanor assault/battery allegation.
No admission of malicious intent.
Conflict-management course.
Community service.
No further incident.
Successful completion:
No conviction.
I accepted.
People online called it:
Special treatment.
Others called it:
Ridiculous prosecution.
Both reactions missed the point.
