Chapter 14 - Madison says Tyler started it

Madison’s disciplinary interview became ugly.

She blamed Tyler.

“He threw it.”

True.

“I only recorded.”

Also true.

“Emma was rude to us all year.”

How?

“She ignores people.”

Emma was non-speaking and sometimes needed processing time.

Madison interpreted delayed response as disrespect.

Then:

“She makes everyone wait for that machine.”

That sentence explained more than she intended.

Teachers had been trained to wait.

Students had not.

Madison resented the extra seconds Emma needed.

So she turned communication delay into social inferiority.

Then her lawyer asked whether Madison would participate in restorative meeting.

Emma answered through counsel:

No.
