Chapter 10 - The Sovereign Heir

Three weeks later, the Moretti mansion was bathed in the warm, golden light of an early autumn afternoon.
The steel security shutters were gone, replaced by open windows letting in the fresh breeze. The grand dining hall was set once again, but the cold, oppressive atmosphere of the past was gone. The table was covered in fresh white roses, delicate silver tableware, and vibrant platters of food.
Sitting at the head of the long dining table was Damien Moretti. He looked happier and handsomer than ever, wearing a relaxed dark suit without a tie, his dark eyes filled with warmth.
Sitting in the grand carved chair directly to his right—the exact chair where she had been humiliated weeks earlier—was five-year-old Lily Moretti. She wore a brand-new pale pink silk dress, a tiny gold crown pin resting in her dark curly hair, laughing happily as she ate a slice of chocolate cake.
Sitting on Damien’s left was Eva Bennett. She was no longer dressed in a maid’s apron. She wore a stunning emerald silk dress, her long hair styled elegantly, elevated to her rightful place as co-guardian of the estate and beloved aunt to the heiress.
Marco Rossi stood near the glass doors, a soft smile touching his sharp face as he watched the family share laughter and joy.
Damien raised his crystal glass, looking at Eva and Lily. "To family. To those we lost, and the miracle who brought us back together."
"To family!" Eva smiled, clinking her glass against his.
Lily raised her small silver cup of apple juice, her dark curls bouncing as she clinked it against her father's glass. "To Daddy!"
Damien laughed warmly, pulling his daughter into a tight, affectionate hug, kissing the top of her head. For the first time in six long years, the Moretti mansion was truly a home.
Later that evening, after Eva had tucked a tired, happy Lily into her new royal nursery on the third floor, Damien stood alone on the sunlit terrace looking out over the city skyline.
A quiet footstep sounded behind him.
Marco walked out onto the terrace, holding an unsealed black leather envelope bearing a heavy wax seal stamped with an ancient, untraceable crest.
"Sorry to interrupt the evening, Boss," Marco said quietly, his voice unusually serious. "This was just delivered by a private courier to the front gates. It came directly from an offshore bank in Zurich."
Damien’s smile faded slightly. He took the heavy envelope, broke the dark wax seal, and pulled out a single sheet of aged parchment paper.
Written across the center in dark, elegant silver calligraphy was a short, cryptic message:
Damien Moretti,
You saved your daughter and destroyed the Hart Group. You restored your family's honor and gave the child her rightful throne.
But Selene Hart did not act alone six years ago. The poison used on Clara was manufactured by the Sovereign Council in Europe.
Look beneath the floorboards of the third-floor nursery. The second chapter of your bloodline’s debt has just begun.
The Council.
Damien stared down at the silver ink as a cold, electric resolve washed over his powerful frame. He did not feel fear; he felt only an unyielding, dangerous strength.
He folded the parchment carefully, slipping it into his jacket pocket, and turned his dark eyes back toward the warm lights of the mansion where his daughter slept safely.

Damien looked at Marco, a slow, fierce smile touching his lips.
"Prep the security team, Marco," Damien commanded in a low, lethal baritone. "Our fight isn't over yet."
