Chapter 14 - My punch

Daniel filed a police complaint over the punch.
He had a bruised upper chest.
No fracture.
No hospitalization.
Patio video showed:
He blocked me.
I attempted to move around.
He grabbed my forearm.
I pulled free.
He grabbed again.
I punched once.
Then disengaged and moved toward Olivia.
Prosecutors declined to charge me.
Their conclusion:
The evidence supported a reasonable defense-of-self / defense-of-access-to-the-child context while Daniel was physically restraining me from reaching a visibly distressed child.
Would a different punch have changed that?
Certainly.
If I had followed Daniel to the ground and kept hitting him?
Different case.
If I had punched him before he grabbed me?
Different.
One strike.
Threat ended.
May you like
I stopped.
Details matter.
