Chapter 8 - Why Daniel wanted me out

I thought it was jealousy.

Simple.

I had been Rachel’s father.

Olivia adored me.

Mara wanted to become the central maternal figure.

Maybe Daniel wanted a new household without Rachel’s father constantly present.

Those motives existed.

But they were not the whole thing.

Three months before the gate incident, Daniel asked me to approve a trust request.

Rachel had left Olivia substantial assets.

Not billionaire money.

Enough.

Life insurance.

Her share of a family manufacturing company.

Investment accounts.

Total trust value:

Approximately $6.8 million.

I was one of two trustees.

The other:

First National Fiduciary Services.

Daniel was Olivia’s parent.

He could request reimbursement for:

Education.

Healthcare.

Child care.

Reasonable housing costs attributable to Olivia.

Extraordinary developmental needs.

He could not simply withdraw principal because he wanted it.

That was intentional.

Rachel had written the trust that way before she became ill.

Then Daniel asked the trust to purchase a new house.

Price:

$2.4 million.
