Chapter 9 - The house request

Daniel argued the current home held too much grief.

Maybe true.

He wanted:

More land.

A pool.

A separate playroom.

Space for a nanny.

Better school district.

All reasonable things in isolation.

The problem was title.

He wanted the trust to contribute:

$1.8 million.

The property would be titled to:

Daniel and Mara.

Not Olivia’s trust.

I said no.

The corporate trustee also said no.

Alternative:

The trust could purchase a defined ownership interest.

Or fund specific child-related improvements.

Daniel rejected that.

He said:

“You don’t trust me.”

I answered:

“This isn’t about trust.”

He slammed his hand on the table.

“It’s always about trust with you.”

Maybe it was.

Rachel had been very clear.

Olivia’s money was Olivia’s money.

Then Daniel hired a lawyer.

That was his right.

What happened next was not.
