Chapter 14 - Simone loses access to the house

The family court issued a temporary protective order limiting Simone’s contact with Eli.
No direct communication.
No entry into Eli’s school.
No unsupervised presence in the home while he was there.
She was allowed to retrieve personal property through a scheduled process.
I did not block her belongings.
Did not change every bank password without counsel.
Did not throw clothes onto the lawn.
I wanted to.
Grace prevented me from becoming stupid.
Simone entered with her attorney and a neutral third party.
Eli stayed with Patricia.
She packed clothing.
Work materials.
Jewelry.
Personal documents.
Then she stopped outside Eli’s bedroom.
“Can I take the lamp?”
I stared.
“What?”
“I bought it.”
Grace answered:
“Leave room contents pending property inventory.”
Good.
Because if I answered, we would have fought over a lamp while my son was learning what safety meant.
