Chapter 16 - Simone’s employer

I almost repeated another mistake.
Simone worked with clients at an architectural firm.
Not children.
When the protective order became public record, I wanted to call her employer.
Grace said:
“Why?”
“They should know.”
“Does her job involve minors?”
“No.”
“Financial fiduciary duties affected by this?”
“No.”
“Did she use company systems for misconduct?”
“We don’t know.”
“Then why?”
I knew.
Punishment.
I wanted consequences everywhere.
I did not call.
Later, Simone informed her employer herself because court appearances affected work.
The firm placed her on temporary leave after media attention reached a client.
Not because I demanded it.
Months later she returned in a nonmanagerial client-support role while the criminal case continued.
No total collapse.
Important.
A child-abuse allegation does not automatically give the other spouse authority to destroy every unrelated part of a person’s life.

I was learning restraint reluctantly.
