Chapter 13 - Adrian’s Version

Through counsel, Adrian eventually offered a different story.

Caleb attacked him first.

Adrian defended himself.

Caleb fell.

Then became irrational.

Adrian put him into the cellar:

“temporarily for everyone’s safety.”

Detective Grant asked:

“Why lock the access?”

No useful answer.

“Why take his phone?”

Silence.

“Why park his vehicle at the airport?”

No useful answer.

“Why tell his daughter he left voluntarily?”

Adrian’s attorney stopped the interview.

Wise.

The self-defense narrative collapsed under the later conduct.

Even if the original confrontation had been mutual, nine days of confinement, staged disappearance, and account access required separate explanations.

Adrian could not make those disappear by arguing about the first shove.
