Chapter 4 - Adrian Rowan

Caleb’s younger brother was thirty-two.
Adrian Rowan.
He had been staying at the house for five months.
After Caleb’s wife Emily died, Caleb struggled with childcare and work.
Not incompetently.
He was exhausted.
Adrian offered help.
School pickup.
Groceries.
Repairs.
Emergency babysitting.
Family.
When Caleb vanished, Adrian became the practical adult around Lila.
He reported Caleb missing.
He sat with officers.
He cried.
He said:
“My brother hasn’t been himself.”
Then suggested Caleb might have left voluntarily.
That mattered now.
Where was Adrian when we found Caleb?
Gone.
His bedroom partly cleared.
Phone off.
Vehicle missing.
A neighbor’s camera showed Adrian leaving forty-one minutes before police arrived.
He carried two duffel bags.

That did not prove he imprisoned Caleb.
It proved he suddenly became important to find.
