Victor came to dinner.
Betsy asked him directly:
“Did you want a grandson?”
Victor nearly dropped his fork.

“More than me?”
“No.”
“Octavia said.”

I coughed.
Then he put down his napkin.
“Betsy, listen carefully.”
She did.
“I never chose Julian because he is a boy.”
“Did you choose me?”
“No.”
She smiled.
“Good.”
Victor blinked.
She explained:
“I want cartoons.”
He looked at me.
“This is what you raised?”
“Apparently.”
Victor leaned toward her.
“If the cartoons make money, I expect preferred investment rights.”
“Grandpa.”
He smiled.
