Chapter 8 - The family-office archive

For years, Maddox family administration operated too informally.

Corporate records were professional.

Family records less so.

Estate documents.

Private aircraft schedules.

Charitable commitments.

Insurance.

Event budgets.

Family shareholder notices.

All passed through a small office managed by relatives and longtime employees.

Octavia chaired its administrative committee.

Not because she owned everything.

Because she enjoyed control.

The fake memorandum first entered the digital archive through an account assigned to:

O. Crane Admin.

Could another employee use that account?

Yes.

Shared credentials had existed historically.

Bad practice.

So again:

Evidence, not conclusion.

Then an email emerged.

Octavia to family-office analyst Megan Holt:

Add Father’s continuity preference to the permanent succession binder. Use the signed version I sent. No need to bother Silvio with this until next annual review.

Megan replied:

Is this board-approved?

Octavia:

It is Founder direction. File it.

There.

Still possible Octavia believed it authentic.

Then we found where she got it.
