Chapter 5 - Lucy had not lost weight

Her pediatrician saw her December 27.
Height:
Normal trajectory.
Weight:
Normal trajectory.
No unexplained loss.
No physical signs of malnutrition.
No iron-deficiency concern.
No dehydration.
No developmental regression.
Her pediatrician, Dr. Mara Feld, asked Lucy privately:
“Do you get food when you’re hungry at home?”
“Yes.”
“Does anyone stop you from eating?”
Lucy said:
“Grandma did.”
Dr. Feld did not interrogate further.
She documented exact words.
Then asked me:
“Has food been a behavioral issue?”
“Lucy is picky sometimes.”
Normal.
“She had a phase where she ate almost nothing but pasta and strawberries.”
Also normal enough.
We had previously discussed it.
She had been referred once to a nutritionist because I wanted guidance on variety.
That became important.
Because whoever made the report had cited:
May you like
History of feeding concerns.
Someone knew about that appointment.
