Chapter 6 - Vivian knew everything in the report

My mother was listed as:
Emergency contact.
Authorized school pickup.
Secondary medical contact.
Why?
Because before Christmas, I trusted her.
She had picked Lucy up when work ran late.
Taken her to one pediatric appointment when I was stuck in court? Clara's profession? Need define. I worked in corporate strategy? Let's establish now. I was general counsel? She wears suit. Better: I was a senior corporate attorney at a Boston biotech company. Fine.
I worked as deputy general counsel for a biotechnology company outside Boston.
Long days sometimes.
Vivian knew:
My schedule.
Lucy’s school.
Her pediatrician.
Her picky-eating history.
Which afternoons Caroline sometimes helped.
She knew enough to make a report sound informed.
But knowing details was not evidence she filed it.
Then the school sent my attorney a limited summary.
The allegation included:
Lucy frequently arrives at school “desperate for snacks.”
Clara regularly works late and “forgets dinner.”
Food is withheld when Lucy misbehaves.
Lucy once ate three granola bars after school.
Lucy underwent nutritional evaluation.
Clara allegedly told relatives:
“She can skip a meal if she wants to act spoiled.”
I had never said that.
But Vivian had.
At Christmas.

Same idea.
She had taken her own behavior and placed my name over it.
