Chapter 12 - We move back into our own house

After Kerensa’s observation period ended, Dr. Porter discharged her.

Instructions:

Rest as needed.

Hydration.

Return for bleeding, fluid loss, painful regular contractions, reduced fetal movement, severe abdominal pain, or concerning symptoms.

No claim that the fall had “almost killed the baby.”

It had frightened us.

That was enough.

Then the house.

Could my father legally remain after lease expiration?

The signed move-out agreement and lease terms gave me strong rights, but self-help eviction rules vary.

So I did not change locks while his belongings remained.

His attorney negotiated.

Graham and Lenora agreed to complete the move within forty-eight hours.

Movers returned.

Supervised.

Inventory documented.

No guns.

No humiliation.

No tossing belongings onto lawn.

They moved into the downtown condominium.

Only after possession was formally returned did Kerensa and I move back.

The first thing she did was stand in the garage.

I said:

“We can use another entrance.”

“No.”

She walked to the place where she had fallen.

Then touched the car.

“I’m okay.”

She was not entirely.

But she was there by choice.

That mattered.
