Chapter 4 - The Recording
Investigators did not show us the footage immediately.
Dad did not want me reliving it.
The detective eventually summarized.
6:13 p.m.
Valerie entered the nursery.
Leo was fussing.
She stood beside the crib.
She said:
“You’ve ruined everything.”
Then she unplugged the camera.
The video continued.
Internal battery.
6:14.
Valerie walked away.
Returned.
Picked up the pillow.
The rest matched my memory.
Then me entering.
Lamp.
Rescue.
Bat.
Grandpa.
The camera also recorded something none of us could ignore.
After Grandpa knocked the bat away, the danger changed.
Valerie was on the floor.
The bat was several feet away.
I was holding Leo behind Grandpa.
Then Grandpa stepped on her foot.
Then threatened her.
That portion did not disappear because we loved Grandpa.
