Hawthorne, Dean, Vivian, Rachel’s estate, and the original construction insurers mediated outstanding claims.

Hawthorne acknowledged:

Delayed removal of Vivian as authorized contact.

Inadequate response to Rachel’s billing disputes.

Overreliance on Vivian’s statements about Rachel’s cognition.

No role in kidnapping.

Settlement with Rachel’s estate:

$620,000

No admission Hawthorne caused Rachel’s death or Nora’s disappearance.

Dean’s company was dissolved.

$185,000

civil contribution beyond criminal restitution, paid over time from available assets.

Household marital assets complicated by divorce.

Her separate investment account.

Equity interests.

Intentional-act insurance exclusions limited coverage.

Nora’s civil case sought damages for confinement and psychological harm.

Rachel’s estate pursued wrongful deprivation/intentional tort claims.
