Chapter 11 - Camilla’s Explanation

Camilla called the cage:
“containment.”
Her therapist later challenged that term.
Containment is sometimes used in clinical settings under strict regulation.
A dog crate on a patio is not clinical containment.
Why did she do it?
Camilla said Pippa’s tantrums became:
“unmanageable.”
She claimed traditional time-outs failed.
Pippa left the chair.
She screamed.
She followed Camilla through the house.
The cage prevented her from:
“controlling everyone.”
That phrase exposed something.
A five-year-old crying for an adult feels controlling only if the adult believes a child’s distress is a power contest.
Pippa was not strategically controlling the household.
She was five.
That did not mean every tantrum deserved capitulation.
May you like
It meant discipline needed to teach.
Not dominate.
