Chapter 16 - Why Camilla Wanted Her Gone

At first I assumed Camilla simply hated Pippa.
Too simple.
Camilla had cared for her for two years.
Packed lunches.
Braided hair.
Sat through fevers.
Attended preschool events.
Love and harmful control can coexist.
Then my lawyer found something relevant in the divorce discovery.
Camilla had accepted a promotion.
International travel.
Three weeks per quarter.
She had not told me yet.
Why hide it?
Because we had been fighting about my own travel.
I had promised to reduce mine.
Camilla secretly wanted to increase hers.
Pippa complicated the schedule.
Instead of admitting:
I want this career opportunity and I need us to rethink childcare,
Camilla built another story:
Pippa’s behavior is so severe that ordinary family care cannot work.
Residential assessment would solve two problems.
A child she felt unable to control.
And a career schedule she did not want to sacrifice.
That did not mean she planned to abandon Pippa permanently.
Evidence did not support that.

But convenience had entered her judgment.
That made everything worse.
