Chapter 20 - Pippa’s Therapy

Pippa began trauma-focused play therapy.
No forced storytelling.
At five, children communicate through play more than depositions.
She repeatedly placed a doll inside a toy animal carrier.
Then had another doll open it.
The therapist did not say:
Aha, direct symbolic proof.
Therapists are more careful than television.
She observed themes.
Confinement.
Rescue.
Fear of mistakes.
Pippa also became anxious at bedtime.
Asked:
“Door lock?”
I showed her.
Bedroom door did not lock from outside.
Then she asked:
“You home?”
Every night.
“Yes.”
For months.
May you like
Eventually less.
Safety becomes believable through repetition.
