Chapter 12 - The Email to Ridgehaven

Camilla first contacted Ridgehaven four months before I found the cage.
Subject:
Severe oppositional behavior in five-year-old.
She wrote:
My husband travels extensively and struggles to accept the seriousness because she behaves better when he is home.
True part:
Pippa behaved better when I was home.
Why?
Maybe because I spoiled her.
Maybe because Camilla’s discipline escalated when alone.
Probably both.
Then:
I am reaching the point where home may not be safe.
For whom?
The intake coordinator asked.
Camilla answered:
Pippa’s younger cousins and pets.
We had no pets.
The cousins visited twice monthly.
No documented injury.
Ridgehaven did not immediately accept her.
They requested:
Pediatric records.
Therapist records.
School reports.
Consent from legal guardian.

Camilla began collecting.
That was when the paper trail intensified.
