Chapter 3 - The Suitcase

The suitcase belonged to Pippa.

I had bought it for a trip to Florida.

Pink interior.

Blue zipper.

A fox keychain.

Camilla packed it.

Why?

At first, she said:

“We were going to my sister’s.”

Her sister lived thirty minutes away.

Why pack five days of clothes?

Then:

“Maybe a longer visit.”

No reservation.

No invitation.

No messages supporting that.

My lawyer, Rebecca Shaw, told me:

“Stop questioning her directly.”

Correct.

Police and child services would investigate.

Marriage did not give me interrogation authority.

The suitcase was photographed.

The contents inventoried.

Then investigators found something inside the outer pocket.

A folder.

Printed forms.

Pippa Norwood.

DOB.

Emergency contact.

Behavioral history.

Medication.

Insurance information.

At the top:

Ridgehaven Child Development Center.

Intake appointment.

8:30 a.m.

The next morning.

I had never heard of Ridgehaven.
