Chapter 25 - The Cage Leaves
Police eventually released the dog crate.
I did not want it.
Maria asked:
“Throw away?”
I considered.
Then called an animal-rescue organization.
Could they use it?
Yes.
Large crate.
Good condition except bent latch.
I almost changed my mind.
Then realized an object did not commit abuse.
Adults did.
The rescue replaced the latch.
Used it for transporting large dogs safely.
Pippa did not know at first.
At seven, she asked where it went.
I told her.
“Dogs?”
“Yes.”
“Door open?”
“Sometimes closed when they travel, so they don’t get hurt.”
She thought.
“For dogs okay?”
“When used safely.”
“For kids no.”
May you like
“Correct.”
That was enough.
